Donate to your new community home.

For over forty years, Huseini Manzil has been the heart of our community in Leicester. Now we are renewing it — a warm, modern centre for our children, our elders, and every generation to come.

Temporary set-up during the works
During the worksA temporary set-up — so gatherings never stopped

For much of this journey, construction has meant our doors were closed. But when a natural pause in the works allowed it, we reopened — if only for a time — to commemorate Muharram together. Some gatherings simply cannot wait.

№ 04 Our roots

Forty years at the heart of our community.

Before a single wall was rebuilt, this was already home — four decades of our community's joys, faith, and farewells.

In the 1980s, our community made Huseini Manzil its home — moving from a house just off Narborough Road, where our gatherings were first held, into a hall of our own on Martin Street. For more than forty years since, it has been our community centre: the place we return to, again and again, across the seasons of our lives.

Within these walls we have commemorated the great occasions of our faith — the days of Muharram, the holy month of Ramadan, the Eids, and the many majlis of the Fatemi Dawoodi Bohra tradition.

And it has held our most personal moments too — Mithaq and Nikah ceremonies, and the family occasions that mark a life lived within our community.

"This hall has known our celebrations — and it has also known our grief. Many of our loved ones have passed through it in their final rites, in Janaza. For so many families, Huseini Manzil is not only spiritual. It is deeply personal."

That is the legacy we now carry forward. Our hope is simple: that Huseini Manzil becomes a warm, accessible and modern centre for the generations to come — keeping our traditions alive in the fullest way we can, while opening our doors to new ways of learning, teaching and gathering together.

"A good word is like a good tree — its roots firm, its branches in the sky, bearing fruit in every season by the leave of its Lord."
The Holy Qur'an · Surah Ibrahim 14:24–25

Our roots: forty years of faith and family on Martin Street. Our branches: the generations who will gather here long after us.

№ 06 For every generation

A home that holds us all.

From our youngest learning their first prayers to our elders gathered in dignity — built for every one of us.

The hall our children will grow up in

For our children

A place where the next generation will learn their faith, form lifelong friendships, and discover belonging — within walls built by the love of those who came before them.

Our elders gathered in comfort

For our elders

Level access throughout, accessible facilities and spaces designed for ease. The same hands that built our community deserve a place that honours them.

وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ

And our doors are open to everyone.

Whoever you are, whatever your background, and wherever you have worshipped before — Huseini Manzil is a Dawoodi Bohra centre, and you are welcome here to gather, to pray, and to belong.

"The houses of God are maintained only by those who believe in God and the Last Day, who keep up the prayer, and who give in charity."
The Holy Qur'an · Surah al-Tawbah 9:18
№ 07 The final push

£100,000 to complete it.

£315,000 raised already — £150,000 from our founding membership and £165,000 through this appeal. This final £100,000 finishes Huseini Manzil to the standard it deserves.

High-quality interior finishesFixtures, fittings and finishing of a standard that makes everyone feel comfortable and at home.
A complete outdoor spaceA fully tarmacked car park and a comfortable, welcoming exterior for our community to arrive to.
Lighting, security & safetyExterior lighting, secure gating and CCTV — so every visit, day or night, is safe and welcoming.

We do not expect a significant surplus. Should any remain, it will be used entirely in the service of our community.
